This landscape is a local hiking spot around Beit Shemesh. The ancient trees and ruins are a silent testimony to our presence in this contested land, bringing a sense of peace to a country devoid of peace both within and beyond its borders. The work reflects the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy: “The desert and the parched land shall be glad; the wilderness shall rejoice and blossom like the rose.” When land is at a premium, our backyard becomes the great outdoors.
